Texting

I saw a very interesting article on slashdot this morning about texting. Almost every teen in america sends text messages now, and households are being slammed with outrageous bills, some over $1000, because of the price per text. It states that the use of SMS has doubles from 2005 to 2006, thats an alarming rate. I just wanna say i feel really bad for the parents, should have brought the unlimited plan. My dad learned his lesson a while ago and we've been unlimited ever since.

Heres the article:

Google

In an article I read on Slashdot, they talk about Google offering ISP's the opportunity to turn over their email operation to Google. This would be huge for them, they are trying to build thier user base and this is a great way. Google is currently third behind yahoo and hotmail. I think that is definately a great move for google, especially since they will be charging ISP's money to do this. so not only will they be making money but they will also be growing their user base.

Here is the article, check it out

Interesting blog on teammates site

I saw a very intriguing post on trevors blog, it was about an article called "13 year-old CEO steals the show at TiECON." It seems unreal but after reading it, its no joke. Kids in this country are growing up quicker and quicker and its really crazy.

Interesting blog on Teammates site

Steve W had a very interesting post about YouTube. He read an article that talked about users wanting to recieve some sort of compensation for putting up videos that attract people to youtube. I for one think this is rediculous, afterall that is the purpose of the site. People look for any way to try and get money now a days and it just gets old.

Teammates Comment

Nate posted about something called technorati, he described it as a search engine just for blogs mixed with some other random services. I checked it out and it was pretty interesting. I suggest signing up.

Teammates Comment

Nate had a post about comparing google adsense and amazon. We both agreed that google was pretty boring and looked like part of the blog. it needs to stand out more. amazon is defiantely better.

Teammates Comment

I commented on Trevors wiki edit regarding andy hall. I was curious as to whether or not his edits had withstood the test of time by the wiki community.

Teammates comment

I commented on Trevor's blog about an article he saw, it was titled "Gonzales proposes new crime: 'Attempted' copyright infringement". It basically stated that people could be penalized not only for infringing copyright, but for attempting to infringe copyright. I agreed with Trevor that this should not be the case.

Final Iverson Wiki Edit Username: SteveHrtmann6

My first edit was a simple grammar correction, nothing special. I also tried to add a table of stats but it would not copy properly.

My second post was some statistical corrections which still remain intact and unchanged

And my final post was about Iversons signature move the crossover. This information also remains unchanged.

Overall i would have to say that I am very pleased with the outcome of this project and my edits to the wiki community.

Final Wiki Las Vegas Edit

My first edit was about a new casino being built on the Las Vegas strip. It was very good information but for some reason it was removed. The user who removed it commented back to me saying that my information was incorrect when i knew for a fact is was accurate. I commented back to him but I recieved no response.

My 2nd edit was about professional sports in the city of Vegas. It was also deleted by the same user. Apparently he monitors the site 24/7 making edits because he leads a very exciting and eventful life. If you check the Las Vegas page history, you will see his name all over the place, check it out, his user name is vegaswikian.

Fianlly, my last edit was about the economy of Vegas. I talked about the population growth and the housing boom taking place there. It is still currently not deleted, but that is probably because I did it a few minutes ago. Give Vegaswikian time and im sure it will be corrected.

This was a very frustration article to edit when you have a user who thinks they own the page.

Final Wiki Eagles edit

My first edit was about the eagles 75th annaversary celebration. I talked about what the eagles planned to do to commerate the teams 75th year. This edit was accepted and unchanged by the wiki community

My second edit was aboutEagles training camp. I interned there last summer so i added some information about it. To my surprise someone deleted my edit. Out of frustration i resubmitted my info because i kno it is correct. It is very annoying when your contributions get deleted.

For my final edit, I added a section about superbowl XXIX in the history of the Eagles section. This edit also remained unchanged.

Final WIki Seinfeld Post

My 1st edit to this article was a simple one, I just added a minor character to the characters list. This edit has remained unchanged by the wiki community.

My second edit was a little information about the last episode. This as well remained unchanged.

My final edit was a whole bio section that i added about jerry. this also remained unchanged. I am very happy to see that my contributions have been appreciated. Three for three is very impressive.

Teammates Blog

One final edit on Steve's blog, I commented on his final wikipedia post about wrestling. Most of his edits were accepted by the wiki community which was impressive,

Teammates comment

I commented on Steve W's blog about his template. I was very impressed with the overall design, it really gave his blog alot of personality and gave you an idea of what kind of person he is.

Teammate comment

I commented on Nate's blog about whether or not web2.0 and bloggers do what they do because of boredom or because they really want to do it. My question was, why did the author of that article write the article, because he was bored or because he really wanted to?

The god of the virtual world

I would just like to take a moment to dedicate a post on my blog to the good will of our professor. I can't say how much I admire the dedication he puts into the horse racing industry and saving horses from going to slaughter. Many times we want to do something, but assume we can't make a difference. Professor Brown has made his dream become a reality and it has certainly not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.

Mixed Media

The article that we read in class today was very interesting to me, especially going into the field of marketing. There is an unlimited amount of new media emerging which forces marketers to keep their ideas fresh and new in order to stay ahead. At the same time, it can be argued that old media can still survive in the ever changing world. I certainly believe this but it must adapt to certain changes. nonetheless, it all makes for a very exciting future and we can only wonder about what is to come.

Digg.com

After coming home from class today i put on espn and saw a breaking news report about a racial bias in NBA foul calling. After that I decided to do some blogging. I went to digg.com for the first time ever and to my surprise there was already a post about the NBA report and it had over 200 diggs. I found this fascinating, digg.com is definately a great website and i will continue to use it in the future.

Today I edited the Las Vegas, Nevada article, under the city redevolopment section. I talked about the latest construction on the Strip. One of the most famous casinos of all time was imploded to make way for a new 4.4 million dollar mega hotel and casino called the Echelon. Check it out, here is the link to the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Vegas%2C_Nevada#City_redevelopment

Google vs. Viacom

To comment on what we did in class today, i strongly feel as though Viacom has no case against Google/YouTube what so ever. The law plainly states that if YouTube is asked to take anything off of their website and they comply, they can not be held liable. Its that simple. In my opinion, I dont know why Viacom even cares so much. This is free publicity for them and its not like they are losing money from this. I might understand if Viacom had their own website that showed clips from previous shows and they were losing hits, but that is not the case. From Viacoms stand point, this is just like having a product and someone else doing all of the advertising for you. They are just looking for another way to make an easy buck.
